What were the major heavyweight stocks on the Nifty that triggered the market direction in the previous week ending on 12 February 2021?

The week ended 12 February was another strong week in which the Sensex eventually closed with gains of 812 points. Here are the stock specific highlights that we got to see in the previous week.

· The market capitalization of the top 10 most valuable companies in terms of market cap in the NSE Nifty index saw value addition of Rs.140,430 crore in the week.

· This is broadly consistent with the 812 points rally that we got to see in the Sensex during the week. This rally has take the Nifty and Sensex to new highs.

· Among the major gainers, Reliance Industries saw market cap growing by Rs.74,330 crore during the week and managed to return to gains after a gap

· ICICI Bank added Rs.22,944 crore in market cap and was catching up on value in the week. IT major, Infosys, also managed a market cap accretion of Rs.15,888 crore

· Apart from these, there were two other stock gainers in the week; HDFC adding Rs.12,439 crore in market cap and heavyweight TCS adding Rs.12,420 crore of value.

· Of course, there were the losers too in the market cap sweepstakes. Among the value losers, it was HDFC Bank that saw a big value decline of Rs.8,016 crore in the week

· Among other key value losers, HUL saw market value loss of Rs.6,685 crore while Kotak Bank saw erosion in market cap to the tune of Rs.6,161 crore in the week.
