Aditya Puri demits office on October 26, 2020 and the RBI has asked HDFC Bank to submit the names before end of June 2020 to give sufficient time for finalization. In the meanwhile, there is an interesting development on these lines. RBI has asked
HDFC Bank to reconsider two key appointments to its board of directors viz. Sashidhar Jagadishan and Bhavesh Zaveri. Both were appointed as “Change Agents” last year, which was a hint that they could be in the reckoning to succeed Aditya Puri. As of now, the two appointments have been put off post the RBI stricture.
RBI has suggested that board positions, being sensitive, should be filled up only after the new CEO takes charge. This could push HDFC Bank to finalize the list of potential candidates for the top job by June 2020. That would give certainty.
