The 10 most valuable companies on the NSE by market cap lost a combined Rs229,000 crore during last week. LIC led the fall, losing Rs57,273 crore ahead of anchor lock-in period ending. Among other value losers, Reliance Industries gave up Rs44,311 crore while TCS and Infosys ceded a combined value of Rs45,746 crore between them.
The 3 big banks viz. HDFC Bank, SBI and ICICI Bank gave up Rs34,970 crore between them in market value during the week. Another big loser in the week was Hindustan Unilever at Rs21,675 crore. Needless to say, in a week when the Nifty was down almost 2.7%, there were not meaningful gainers among the heavyweights.
