Clearly, there was a lot of demand to lap up the stake sold by Carlyle in SBI Life during the weekend. The buyers for the Carlyle sale included high-profile sovereign wealth funds, FPIs, domestic mutual funds and other select institutional investors. The entire 3.18% in SBI Life was quickly picked up. Here are some of the key institutions on the buying side.

Among sovereign funds, there was ADIA, Norges Bank, GIC of Singapore, Monetary Authority of Singapore, Kuwait Investment Authority etc. In addition, there were FPIs in the fray including Morgan Stanley Asia, SocGen, , Copthall Mauritius, Baron and Vanguard International Index Fund.

There was also a lot of interest among the local investors in picking up a stake in SBI Life from Carlyle. The domestic investor list included Mirae Asset, Axis MF, SBI Mutual Fund, Bajaj Allianz Life, HDFC Standard Life, Nippon India and Franklin Templeton. The entire supply was quickly taken up.
