On Friday, Dish rallied by 10% and touched a 11-month high of Rs22.30 per share. Incidentally, since the time Jawar Goel resigned from the board of Dish TV, the stock is up nearly 46%. It may be recollected that Jawahar Goel had tendered his resignation from the board of directors of the company due to the shareholders not approving his reappointment to the board. If you look at the last one month, the stock of Dish TV is up nearly 92%, outperforming the index substantially in the same period.

Dish TV is part of the Zee (Essel) group and is one of the leading Direct-to-Home (DTH) players in India. It is one of the oldest in this business, although the business never lived up to the promise. The next grand plan for Dish TV is to marry the existing DTH concept with OTT services to create an unbeatable product in the entertainment market. Meanwhile, 3 nominees of Yes Bank (the largest shareholder in Dish TV by way of loan conversion) viz. Girish Paranjpe, Arvindnachya Chandranachya and Haripriya Padmanabhan are inducted.
