HDFC Bank invested an undisclosed amount smallcase, an investment research start-up which already has investments from DSP, Sequoia and Blume Ventures. They offer model portfolios of stocks and ETFs that are created and managed by registered individuals and entities and are made available to retail investors.

Currently, the smallcase platform is integrated with a number of reputed brokers like Zerodha, HDFC Securities, Kotak Securities, 5Paisa etc which offer smallcases to their clients. Smallcases currently has 20 lakh users and Rs.5,000 crore has been transacted via this platform.

HDFC Bank has a strategy of participating in the equity and also partnering with such Fintech firms so that they continue to operate in a typical start-up DNA but get the benefit of a stable institution, a larger market place and also a bigger balance sheet.
