From April 2022, it was mandatory for large companies to separate the role of chairman and MD. However, now SEBI has made this clause voluntary. Compliance was quite low at 50.4%. with just 2 months to go for the deadline. Industry bodies have written to SEBI about the practical difficulties of adhering to such a stipulation.
