Why has Vedanta acquired the Athena power plant?

Vedanta will acquire the 1200 MW Athena Chhattisgarh Power plant for Rs565 crore, in an all-cash transaction. It will take care of the power requirement for Vedanta Aluminium. Athena was admitted under CIRP for initiation of liquidation process in May 2019.
