Why is Adani Group planning such huge investments into green energy?

Adani Group plans to go all guns blazing and invest $20 billion in green and renewable energy over the next 10 years. That translates into a rupee investment of nearly Rs.145,000 crore. The idea here is to build a top-class renewable energy ecosystem, and it is likely to match the aggressive green plans of Reliance Industries as laid out by Mukesh Ambani in the last AGM of the company.

Talking of renewable ecosystem, the Adani group investments will be spread across renewable energy generation, component manufacturing, transmission and distribution. In terms of outcomes, Adani will triple the share of renewable energy in its overall energy portfolio from 21% to 63%. What is more interesting is that more than 75% of the capital expenditure by Adani group till 2025 is purely dedicated for green energy.
