Reliance Industries is planning to o double its PET recycling capacity by setting up a recycled PSF manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. Polyethylene Terephthalate or PET is one of the most popular materials used for making plastic bottles and is extremely bio-non-degradable making it a threat to the environment. Reliance has tied up with Srichakra Ecotex based in the state of AP for this specific purpose.

This is in line with the endeavour of Reliance to improve upon its sustainability quotient as laid out quite vividly in the last AGM. The manufacturing will be totally handled by Srichakra Ecotex, which will build and operate the facility exclusively for RIL. To increase its green recycling footprint, RIL will double its recycling capacity to 5 billion PET bottles. This will maintain 90% recycling and also make the legacy O2C business more sustainable.
