The markets may be tight for start-up funding but that is not deterring FreshToHome from going ahead with its funding plans. Iin fact, FreshToHome, the online delivery start-up, will raise $125 million or approximately about Rs1,000 crore, in a Series-D funding round. Among the likely investors in this round are L Catterton and Amazon, both of whom have a fairly rich exposure to the start-up ecosystem in India. FreshToHome is eyeing Unicorn valuation ($1 billion), which may not be all that easy when start-up funds are drying up.

It may be recollected that recently even Byju’s had struggled to raise funds from global PE investors, where commitments were not translating into actual flows. FreshToHome is into a high time sensitive business that delivers fish, seafood, poultry, meat, fruit and vegetables. In India, it competes with Licious. Currently, FreshToHome delivers 2 million orders on a monthly basis across more than 150 cities and towns across the length and breadth of India. In addition, it also caters to the highly lucrative United Arab Emirates (UAE) market.
